Previous: 3 Particle identification
Two problems related to direct processing of raw RICH
data are considered depending on the prior knowledge of the
Cherenkov ring centers and particle momenta:
- -
- robust fitting of one or simultaneously two overlapping rings
when the center knowledge is not sufficient;
- -
- hypothesis testing of one particular radius from the known set of
Cherenkov ring radii in the case when this knowledge is available.
A robust technique was developed that uses the raw data and
takes into account such an essential information as the signal amplitudes
measured for each pad. The comparative study on simulated data shows
good efficiency of the proposed methods.
Concluding, the authors would like to thank P. Glässel and
I. Tserruya from the CERES Collaboration for fruitful
discussions.
