GateD Unicast has grown out of the public domain GateD 3.5 code base.

The additions to the GateD routing protocol are new BGP features and a new OSPF code. The BGP features added include route-reflection, communities, and destination preference attribute (DPA). The OSPF code replaces the original University of Maryland code with an OSPF code that supports RFC 1583 and reduces the amount of space required for each OSPF route.
