Q.  What are some graphics adapters that will work on my UP2000 running Linux?

  • Permedia 2 based graphics adapters such as ELSA Gloria Synergy
  • Accel Star II

  • Matrox Millenium series 

  • 3D Labs Oxygen ACX

Q.  Can I mix Slot B’s with different amounts of cache?

A.  No. If system is configured with 2 Slot B’s, they must have the same amount of cache.

 

Q.   Which power supplies can I use with my UP2000?

A. The UP2000 requires a 600 watt ATX power supply.  One example is the Enermax 650W ATX.

 

Q.   What chassis can I use with my UP2000?

A.   The Macase chassis KA-S80 with the Macase UP2000 mounting kit is the recommended chassis.

 

Troubleshooting

Q.  I’ve received my UP2000 and it won’t power up. What should I do?

A.  Check power connections.

Ensure that 5 volt, 12 volt and 3.3 volt power leads are connected to J25, J26 and J28 respectively. J28 *IS* required.

Check fan connections. 

The fans for the primary Slot B cartridge should be connected to J37 and J39.

The fans for the secondary Slot B (if present) should be connected to J38 and J35.

Q.  My UP2000 powers up, but I have no video output.  What should I check?

A.     Check video board.

Video board must be placed in PCI Bus 0, which includes the 2 64 bit PCI slots and the 32 bit slot directly adjacent to them.

Check LED status.

Check LEDs for CPU A located at D9, D10 and D11. In order to get to the SRM console, the SROM light (D10) should shut off a few seconds after power up, and remain off.  

If Power good (D11) and SROM (D10) remain lit, possible causes are:

  1. Incorrect memory type.   See memory specification above.  
  2. Slot B and/or memory may not be firmly seated.  Please re-seat memory and Slot B modules.
  3. Incorrect jumper configuration.  Check jumper configuration section in UP2000 Quick Start Installation Guide (available here).
  4. Incorrect memory configuration.  Check the memory configurations section of the UP2000 Quick Start Installation Guide (available here).

If only SROM (D10) light is on: Check fan connections (see above).

 Ensure keyboard is plugged into the proper port.  This will be the connector closest to the motherboard.

Q.  My UP1000 gives LM-75 Read/Write error in AlphaBios during power-up.  What is the problem?

A. Go into AlphaBIOS setup, Integrated Peripherals Setup, find power management and set it to "automatic".
